Nation, I had a chance last week to sit down with Ward 13 candidate Sandy Jenkins at a restaurant on Bannister Road.

Jenkins, who some may remember finished 3rd in the Mayoral race in 2007, was forthright and open with his answers.  His opinions might not be the most popular on some issues, but no one can accuse him of sugar-coating his thoughts.

Does someone want to tell this candidate that he is having coffee in ward 14? He can’t name a resturant that is in our ward! If you listen to the audio, it’s quite obvious that this candidate lives in the NW and knows about the issues in Ward 13 as reported on by the media. We have not had an alderman that lives in our ward for the last nine years. It really angers me that he talks about ward 13 using the term “we”. Name me an issue from Bridlewood that you have personal knowledge about Mr. Jenkins. And make that an issue that has not previously been reported on in the media. We have bigger issues than a golf course. The residents want representation by one of their own. The same could be said about Diane Colley-Urquhart as well.

It also bothers me that Trevor Hodge who lives in our ward is a terrible public speaker and not seeing the clear picture. He uses cue cards, stumbles in his words and uses “um” all the time. When asked basic questions about his opinion on the ward he says he would have to look into it more. Trevor you should already know this if you want to be our future alderman and not have to look into it. I will be voting for the other candidate that lives in the ward and is actually in tune with what it going on and is a strong voice for our ward.
