Lethbridge Mayoral Race Gets Interesting…

Nation, while this blog tends to focus on issues relating to politics on the provincial level or Calgary municipal level, once in awhile we get information about issues and races in other parts of the country and province.

This video showed up in my inbox last night, and suggests that the race for the open Mayor’s seat in Lethbridge is getting some fresh blood.

Kay Adeniyi, in his mid-twenties, will be the fifth person to declare their intention to run for mayor in a town that swells by thousands of residents when the post-secondary calendar begins for Lethbridge Community College and the University of Lethbridge (Go Pronghorns!) each September.

The other four declared candidates are:

  • Patrick Berthelot, Maintenance Manager
  • James Frey, Communication Consultant
  • Cheryl Meheden, University Professor
  • Rajko Dodic, 2-term Alderman

Adeniyi’s announcement will be open to the press and public, and will be held at the Galt Gardens on Monday, July 19th at 7 pm.

Anyone down in the Windy City want to be the Senior Lethbridge-ologist for The Enlightened Savage’s coverage of Election 2010?

    I don't want to be a Lethbridge -ologist senoir or otherwise but I think it would be very helpful if theses esteemed candidates could enlighen the voters on what it is about them that makes them think they are best 'qualified' to lead the City of Lethbridge. I'd like to know about other political appointments they have held. I'd like to hear about their previous supervisory and leadership experiences. I'd like to know how successful they are at running their own businesses or even managing their personal finances. I'd like to know if they have any understanding of the challenges that go into budgeting the revenues and expenditures for an entire city. I know at least one of these esteemed candidates is nothing but a drain on society and, despite his frequent rants about wasteful spending of taxpayers money, is not a property tax payer and is the first one with his hand out for anything he deems to be a government freebie not seeming to realize that there ARE NO FREE RIDES. I really hope the Lethbridge voters do their homework for this election. I contributers to this site help them by researching these candidates and weeding out the blowhards and idiots.
